Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the uPet browser extension and related services provided at upet.cc ("Service"). By installing or using uPet, you agree to these Terms.

1. Service Description

uPet is a browser extension that provides a virtual AI pet companion. Features include AI conversations, daily check-ins, mood journaling, mini-games, accessories, and a page companion overlay. The Service is available for Chrome and Edge browsers.

2. Accounts

An account is optional. You may use core features without signing in. If you create an account via Google sign-in, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You must provide accurate information and must not impersonate others.

3. Subscriptions & Payments

3.1 Starter Plan

The Starter plan is free and includes 50 one-time credits and access to basic AI models. No credit card is required.

3.2 Paid Plans

Lite ($4.99/mo), Pro ($11/mo), and Premium ($19.99/mo) plans are recurring subscriptions billed automatically via Stripe. Annual billing is available at a 30% discount. Prices are listed on our website and may change with 30 days' notice.

3.3 Auto-Renewal

All paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle (monthly or annually). You will be charged the same amount unless you cancel before the renewal date. We will not send a separate reminder before each renewal — the subscription terms at checkout apply.

3.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the "Manage Subscription" button in the extension's membership page, which redirects to the Stripe billing portal. After cancellation, you retain access to paid features until the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are provided for the remaining days of a billing cycle.

3.5 Refunds

We offer a full refund within 7 days of your first subscription payment if you are unsatisfied. After this period, or for renewal payments, refunds are only granted in cases of technical issues that prevent you from using paid features. To request a refund, email support@upet.cc with your account email and a description of the issue.

3.6 Plan Changes

You may upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. When upgrading, you will be charged the prorated difference immediately. When downgrading, the new plan takes effect at the start of the next billing cycle.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to generate harmful, illegal, or abusive content
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the extension
• Abuse the AI chat system (e.g., bypassing rate limits, automated scripting)
• Resell or redistribute your subscription access
• Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws

5. AI-Generated Content

AI responses are generated by third-party language models via OpenRouter. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of AI-generated content. The pet's responses are for entertainment purposes and should not be treated as professional advice (medical, legal, financial, or otherwise).

6. Intellectual Property

The uPet extension, branding, pet designs, and website content are owned by uPet. You retain ownership of any content you create (e.g., mood journal entries, chat messages). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your content solely for providing the Service.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the Service and delete the extension at any time. Upon termination, your local data remains in your browser; server-side data will be deleted upon request.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI responses will be accurate.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, uPet shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. For material changes, we will provide notice via the extension or email.
