uPet ("we", "us", or "our") operates the uPet browser extension and related services at upet.cc. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Data We Collect

1.1 Local Data (stored in your browser)

By default, all pet data, chat history, mood journal entries, check-in records, achievements, and settings are stored locally in your browser via chrome.storage.local. We do not have access to this data unless you create an account.

1.2 Account Data (optional)

If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google profile information (name, email, profile picture) and store it on our server to provide cross-device sync and subscription management.

1.3 Payment Data

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card numbers. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment transactions: stripe.com/privacy.

1.4 AI Chat Data

When you chat with your pet, messages are sent to OpenRouter (a third-party AI API provider) for processing. We send our domain (upet.cc) as a referer header. If you use your own API key, the key is stored locally and sent directly to OpenRouter — we never see it. OpenRouter's privacy policy: openrouter.ai/privacy.

1.5 Browsing Data

The page companion feature may read the current page title and URL to generate pet reactions. This data is processed locally and is never sent to our servers. The travel log is stored locally in your browser.

2. How We Use Your Data

• Provide and improve the uPet extension and services
• Sync your pet data across devices (if you have an account)
• Process subscriptions and payments
• Respond to support requests

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only with:

• Stripe — for payment processing
• OpenRouter — for AI chat (only chat messages, sent at your request)
• Google — for OAuth sign-in (only if you choose to sign in)

4. Data Retention

Local data remains in your browser until you clear it or uninstall the extension. Account data is retained while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.

5. Your Rights

You can:

• Use uPet without creating an account (all data stays local)
• Export or delete your local data via the extension settings
• Request deletion of your account and server-side data by emailing us
• Revoke Google sign-in permissions at any time via your Google account settings

6. Children's Privacy

uPet is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of uPet after changes constitutes acceptance.
